My project is currently sitting, the issue is wiring for the most part. At time of purchase I could see the wiring was a bit off. The guy had wired a secondary button to start the car. He stated it was for safety and when I asked if the ignition switch worked he finally said no. So new switch no big deal. So as I am digging in to the wiring it looks like Edward scissor hands was the last one to touch it. I found one wire running from the front marker lights to the tail lights so they would work. The rest was spaghetti, cut and spliced poorly, so time for new wiring. I have used painless kits in the past and do cabling for a living so replacing the wire harness is not out of my league. After reviews and write ups I have read American Auto wire seems to be a better deal and comes with several switches you might as well replace why your in there. I will see more as time goes and report back findings and can do comparisons if anyone is interested. I would post pictures but I have not figured that out on this forum yet.. I did not see a wiring section so maybe this can be the opener for a wiring section..

I rewired my 67' with a AAW. I was very pleased with the quality and contents of the kit. It's a well thought out harness with plenty of options to add on and upgrade.

Do yourself a favor and buy the proper single and double crimpers.
Extra GM series 56 wire terminals can be had on Ebay for pennies on the dollar.

I looked at the crimpers but I have the Painless crimpers and they work with the kit.. Mostly because the connectors are the same ones. I have the kit laid out on my couch and going through it. Did notice I had to add speaker wires to the rear kit since that is one thing they don't seem to accommodate. It did have new ignition switch, headlight and dimmer switches. I am actually going to begin installing it today and see how far I get..

I just remembered Mag-Daddy magnetic fasteners! IMO these things are great. You can put wires anywhere without drilling and move wires around at will post install.

So after several hours and the 49er game my output is not as much as I had hoped over the weekend.. I did notice that of all the switches provided you don't get a new windshield wiper motor switch so I guess you have to order that one.. Progress is slow but sure and I was side tracked by draining and filling the transmission with amsoil and sure as **** I spilled so now I have kitty litter to cleanup on top of it.. Such is life working on your own car... Here is some minor progress pictures...

 

Things are moving along the trunk is complete.. I added rear speaker wires, remote wires for an electric antenna, wire for trunk switch for the alarm, wire for trunk release I hope to use if I can find a way to get it to work. Also one spare wire just in case. Engine compartment is a bit more challenging I had to add a starter solenoid switch and this just further complicated the firewall area but made running one wire to the starter possible. The MSD box takes up a lot of space as well so getting things to fit has taken some adjustments. The Dakota digital sensors were somewhat easy until the transmission sensor for speed. It would have been nice if they had given about 3 more feet for that one. I ended up adding a circuit breaker next to the battery to replace the fusible link wires.. A couple new pictures of the current progress..

I am drawing this together slowly and hope to get it done by the end of the weekend. There are some real nice features in the AAW kit and some real boners.. The good is it really is simple to follow along. The connector design is not very good in some places. Not providing matching ***** means you have to buy new ones. No extra wires for things like trunk release speaker wires door trigger switch all not included. Wire marked every few inches priceless. The kit lays out ok and have not run in to any major issues. I will post more pictures as I am getting wrapped up... PS heater core write up to come along shortly... New seats write up also..
