Ahhh, ok, I see it now. So it's not the steering rod that would hit, but the rack and pinion itself, more than likely where the steering rod connects to the unit right?

What about the power steering lines? Would there be enough clearance for them, or do you have to do something to make sure they can withstand the heat?

 

The Uni Steer brand power rack and pinion is a rear steer rack. I believe the Ricks is a converted front rack which would probably be a much better solution. Or maybe the Flaming River?
