What do you think of my dash? Are you a purist or more of a modernist? Bigger pics can be seen on my profile page.

I like the purely original cars, but I also like those cars with some updates. I think the Covan and many of the custom dashes are pretty nice!

i like the covan dashes, but for me it depends on what type of car you started with that depends if its better to go original or modernized. if you have a #'s matching car restore it worth more money. if the car is a basket case mod it because you arent hurting it

Agreed, but it also depends on which #'s matching car you have. If it's one of the desireables like a Z28, RS, SS, or any big block Camaro, then by all means try to keep everything original. Anything else in a #'s matching is not as big a deal to change.

I think it all boils down to personal taste, I would not do that to my 68, but I loved the factory dash layout. I know it kind of weird but I never did like the 69's layout so I would have no problems doing it to one of thoes. Go figure?

I tend to agree with the last 2 posts. If it's a plain jane conversion, do what makes you happy....forget what others think. I have seen a lot of 67 & 68's with after market speedos and tachs fitted into the original dash pods with red or green lighting that look pretty cool.

I'm also a big fan of the consoles, they serve a great utility purpose and keep the gauges in viewable site. I spent 15 years looking for the rare Pepsi insert can holder that goes between the shifter and the console, never did find one.

I agree with you all. In my case I did not have orig drivetrain, no buildsheet, and early NOR cars were not given an X code. Mine is 2nd week of Sept. 68. I saw no reason to go back 100% original.
