Default What do you see here?

I'm seriously thinking of buying this but am very new to Camaro's. Does anything jump out at you? I see the non-stock hood and crappy windshield install. Let me know!!

I am no expert by any means, BUT no air cleaner is a no no for me. not sure of the picture, but looks like no breather in the valve cover
depends on how much he wants for it

Vinyl tops are a worry, very often rust underneath. I'd look the whole car over very carefully looking for rust including the subframes etc.
Homefry fan shroud looks pretty cheesy but I suppose it works.
As Flat Tire said it depends on asking price.

You should get the number off the cowl tag, The rear spoiler is not original and the fan shroud looks home made. The interior looks original deluxe with gages pack. Its not common for the firewall to be the body color. What are the kind of things you are looking for? Its a nice looking car but a long way away from a show winner against a high end restoration.

Underneath is where the sins normally show up.

Thanks for the replies. This car is owned by my brother in law and has been in his family since the early 90's. He is asking 10K. I don't know much about it and am not close enough to run over and look, that's why I'm looking for input from all of you. I didn't realize the rear spoiler wasn't original, good catch. He says it runs and drives, engine was rebuilt in 2003 but has less than 100 miles on it. It's been in the garage this whole time. In 2017 he took it to a shop and had a tune up and all fluids changed, nothing was brought up as being out of the ordinary. He said when they bought it they took it to a performance shop and put electronic ignition, rebuilt and jetted the Holly 4 barrel. I'm sure it has an air cleaner but don't know if it's been on the whole time. The vinyl top has been removed and there was some minor rust which was taken care of, it's matte black paint now. He says there are a couple of bubbles in the paint above the fenders but nothing has broken through the paint yet. This would be my first camaro, I'm interested but don't know what to expect. It is a 327 with powerglide, pw, pdl, no a/c or cruise. Thanks again!

$10K isn't bad all things considered, around my area it would sell pretty quick for that as most in that price range are non running project cars.

I would jump on that even if it needed new floors.

Well if he has no record of the brakes being done in the last 15 years then they should. By brakes I mean the stuff with soft material that is effected by time. Brake line hoses, seals in the wheel cylinders and the seals in the master cylinders. There is no way to check to see if the hoses and seals are ok its just based on time. Aged seals and hoses are mostly likely to fail at the worst time, like when someone pulls out in front of you and you panic and slam the brakes with an adrenalin filled push. I just did the wake up process on my 67 that had been sitting since 05 or so. See my signature.

What's up with that roof? Is it covered in vinyl? Post some better pictures of it front and back. It looks like someone's hack job.
BTW, in general, $10k for a running, driving 1st gen is a good price.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try to answer any questions. First off I'm 7 hours away from the car which is stored in my in-laws garage. My brother in law lives a couple of hours from the car so getting more pictures takes time. The vinyl roof is gone, matte black paint in it's place. Brakes are definitely high on the list as they haven't been touched in years. I don't know any thing about Fisher bodys, can someone enlighten me? I think the $10k price is because his sister (my wife) is interested. I'm sure he would list it for more if he decides to sell it out right. So what else should I be worried/concerned about? Thanks so much!
