Well, this past weekend I removed the parking brake and clutch/brake assembly under the dash. When I was all finished I found this on the floorboard. Anyone know what it is?

 

It looks like some kind of a shim

 

That piece slides onto the top part of the emergency/parking brake pedal, up from the bottom, before you reattach the cable end. And that tab sticking out on the left depresses the e-brake light switch. Without that bracket piece on, your brake light in the dash will stay on (provided it works now).
