i misplaced my vin tag during restoration is there any way too get a reproduction made up

Call the DMV, they should be able to help. I have heard of a place that will make a replacement all you need it the current registration as proof of the number. A google search might help as well.

 

its illegal to reproduce a VIN. The only way is to go to DMV and apply for a VIN. Same way as if you were to build a vehicle, you would have to a VIN assigned to it.

You're right scott, I was thinking trim tag but typing vintag for the second half of my post. oops I blame it on the percocet.

Yep dmv and they will verify the hidden vin's with the title you have then issue you a replacement. It will not go back in the same location on dash/ rather the door jamb. be sure to keep records of this incase of resale

Won't it be a sticker as well? I built a trailer once and got it registered, the lady just came out (of the DMV building) and stuck a blue sticker on it near the tongue.

 

I would think it would be done differently for an auto, but hey every state has there own way of doing things
