Which transmission ?
I'm restoring a '67 convertible, and plan on putting in a ZZ383 engine. I want to put in a 6spd, and was wondering if anyone had some advice/recomendations. also what gearing/ I was thinking 3.90 gears. I thought i'd need the taller gears if I'm going to have a 6spd.
Try these guys: http://www.classicchevy5speed.com/
Have used their kits before. They are very knowledgeable and will help you if you have questions.
Your choice, but I would run a different ratio with a 6 speed, unless you are looking for all out race. 3.43 is about as tall as I would go, especially with a stroker. Better gas mileage.

Richmond Gear makes a 6 speed and you have a lot of different gear ration options. Most performance places like Jegs or Summit sell them. I'm not sure if they work in the factory center consoles though.
Unless you are looking to modify your floor in your car, or run it with the wrong angle on your driveline, I would suggest you look into running a Tremec 500, or 600.A T-56 6 speed is physically so much larger that you will have floor tunnel problems. Classic Chevy 5 speed is where I got my transmission and I have yet to run it or install it, but it is definately a complete kit, and the service was fantastic.

If you don't mind me asking, which kit did you buy and what did it run you. I have been looking at these guys as well. I'm thinking of doing the complete auto to 5 speed kit just becuase if I get it all from the same place, there is only 1 person to choke if something goes wrong
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I purchased my transmission thru Classic Chevy 5 Speed, in California. This an all inclusive kit, right down to the crossmember and a cheesy shift pattern plate to put on your console. I haven't installed it into my subframe yet, but I will be soon. It appears to be well thought out and engineered. There appear to be several vendors nowadays offering a package deal like this.

Even if Classic Chevy 5 Speed isn't the cheapest, it's worth it to go to them. In the last year they were sold to B & M but the ex-owner is still there. He knows drivelines and still gets on the phone to help customers when he can. He really save me on a LS2 & 5 speed swap into a '57. Also, since they were bought they have a sister company now (McLeod Industries) which helped me out immensely with my clutch/flywheel problems.
I second that, even though I didn't buy the TKO600 from Classic Chevy 5 Speedthey still provided me with the accessories to make it go smooth and had great phone support when it came to installation problems. I have installed a TKO600 behind my 509BB and it fits, but it is TIGHT. Don't be suprised if you need to 'massage' your tunnel a bit and replace frame bushings to get it to fit. I am very happy with this transmission.
