Traction Bar Problem....
I had bought Lakewood universal traction bars for my 67 Camaro and when i was about to get ready to put them on i went to just measure them up the bottom strut plate is in the way. i don't know if i have to buy a sepreate plate or notch it out(hopefully not) but i would like to either know how to be able to fit them on or else anyone know any good cheaper traction bars that will fit it? THANKS!

RE: Traction Bar Problem....
By "universal" I presume you mean the cheap-o ones that u-bolt to the leaf springs both front and back of the rearend? Take them back and get the ones that replaces your bottom leaf spring ratainer plate and bolts in it's place. Basically the bars will then be an integral part of the rearend, instead ofmaking the rear portion of the leaf springs taking up the force with the ones you have now. Yeah they cost more, but you get what you pay for.

a good set of traction bars will relpace the bottom spring plate with the one on the traction bars. if yours don't do that, they are pretty much worthless and are just a bad looking appearance mod
if yours are like the later, return them and spend the money for a good set

RE: Traction Bar Problem....
I bought a pair of slide-a-ling traction bars from jegs and that made the biggest difference so far, it did replace the bottom spring plate, they also were not that hard to install. best suspension decision as far traction bars
