Torq Thrust D Chromes
Hi everyone! Yet another wheel post!
I want to replace my TT II's on my 67 with TT D Chromes. The problem I'm having is getting comfortable with the look and fit of the rear wheels because the rims will have to be wider than what I have now. I've searched the forums and asked a few buddies for input but I'm still unsure.
My current rear set-up has PLENTY of clearance: P255/60R15 (BFG T/A's) on 8" TT-II's with 4-1/2" of backspace. American Racing, however offers 7" or 8.5" not 8" with the TTD Chromes. The 7" is too small for the 255's. The 8.5" rims are madewith 3-3/4" of backspace. So what I want to know is if anyone has any thoughts (or better yet, if anyone is running the 8.5"'s) with respect to rear fit? I want to keep the period look and I think the chrome finish on the D'sis really sharp. I'm planning on doing both new tires & rims so I want to make sure this is going to work!!! I'll be keeping the same tire size, just adding a half-inch to the rim and going to 3-3/4" of backspacing.
By the way, I enjoy reading this forum and have learned tons from it. Thanks in advance for any advice on my dilemma!

Thanks for the input. I found some 8.5" TQ wheels that I like with 4-1/2" backspacing sothey're only sticking out an additional half inch. That's what I'm leaning toward now for the rears, with7-inchers up front.
