Default Tire size???

Just got a 68 camaro ss and it came with 14" Cragar wheels. They're in perfect condition, but their not for me. I was looking at the new version of the Torque Thrust II wheels. I want to give the car a pro-touring look. I want to go with 17" up front and 18" out back and a little wider than the front. Can anyone give me some place to start as far as tires sizes and rim widths/back spacing? I don't want the tires to stick out past the fenders or 1/4's.

Thanks for your help.

On our basic stock (has a Hotchiks suspension installed but did not change the tire size) 1968 RS/SS We mounted 17x7.5 with a 4" backspacing on the front with P215 50 tire

The rear we went with 17x9.5 with a 5.5" backspacing with a P275 40 tire

You can place the 18's on the rear but you'll only be able to run a 8" wide
