Teaching opportunity that turned into a project!
So I was bored the other saturday and told my wife that I was going to go work on my camaro. She told me that she would like to come help. Heck ya! My wife could normally care less but this was my opportunity to get her interested in my automotive projects. She said she wanted to learn and I was just going to explain how everything works and such........well this is what happen.
This is how the car looked when we started last Saturday night....
My little side-kick.
With my wife running the fork lift the engine came right out.
And now as it sits....

Ha ha, I put the chains on too, just in case. I also had no intention to pull the fenders and now I am rebuilding the engine Oh well I was planning on doing it this summer anyway. Guess I got an early start.
What do you guys think of a 327 or 350?

327 all the way there is no better small block! a stock spec L79 327 (rated by GM to have 350hp) will pull a tad over 400. put some solids liftters in it and youll have a 365 hp spec motor like in a vette. plus solid lifters sound cool.

The DZ 302? Very underrated by GM. In it stock form it has Dyno'ed near 500 HP at 7500 RPMs.
Which motor you build will depend on what you want. RPMs cost money, High reving motors cost more to build. Most popular would be a 350 stroked to a 383.

302 has always been on top of the list. But I want somthing that will have better street manners. When the car is done it will be a weekend driver. I will put an ls1 in, at some later date. Right now I just want a 350 to 400 hp. What kinda fuel milage can I get out of a carb'ed 327,350, or a 383?

What is the difference between 327's? Are they all 2 bolts? What year do I want? I can get one out of a old 60's pickup that has a 2 bb carb.
