Default Speedo/odometer

New to the Form!
had a 69 RS with 327, powerglide back in High School, sold it when I joined the Army back in '83.
now, I'm ready to get back into a Camaro...yes it took awhile, too many deployments, moving around etc

I'm looking at a 67 RS/SS
it came with a powerglide that was switched out to a muncie M-20. it changed hands a couple of times.
The Speedometer and odometer do not work, everything else works.
speedo cable kaput ?

You can disconnect the cable from the head under the dash then pull it down where you can see it. Have a passenger watch it while you drive and see it the cable tip rotates. If it does then the head has a problem .If it doesn't then the cable or speedo gear is bad.

Or PO's have not replaced the speed cable with a longer length cable if M20 is from a '69 and later as speedo is on pass side vice '67 & '68 on drvr side.

Have you looked underneath the Camaro?
Check body bushings for physical condition along with brake hoses, shocks, the usual items.

Car is out of state, inspection went well
Dealer states the cable had just popped off back of speedo.
do not think it was intentional
finding out that state of PA doesn't require safety or emission testing on old cars and can also get antique plate that's good for life
cannot remember what CT had...
glad I found this forum
