Default Special/Paint Delete

PLEASE...HELP!!!

First I am going to bore you with all the details. I own a '69 RS/SS 350 that was purchased by a GM executive for his daughter & loaded it to the gills w/options...(pw,ps,pb,a/c,amfm blue light stereo, clock, tilt wheel, fiber optics, spd warning indicator, vanity mirror, remote drivers mirror, tinted soft ray glass, space saver spare,mag-style rims,12-bolt rear,300hp) & all RPO'S check out. I have decoded toe-plate,cowl tag & bla, bla, bla. On top of everything else this is also a paint delete car (via - on toe-plate).

The paint is thru Oldmobile (Powder Blue) so finally...MY QUESTION; Is there anyway of determining how many camaro's, if any, were painted this same color???

I know, I know, there were 243,085 units built and GM has zippo for 1st gens...PLEASE SOMEONE GIVE ME SOMETHING I CAN USE!!!!???? ALSO...IS THIS CONSIDERED A COPO... after all, it is a central office production order. I've had several "experts" tell me yes & no.

you have a rare car mainly cause its loaded and a paint delete. i have only seen one other paint delete camaro it was a 68 coupe that was a pontiac green. there is no way you can see if any other camaros were painted the same from the factory since it has no paint code on it. at least that what i have learned from doing research on my 68 camaro

Thanks camaro boy...great looking '68!!! Ya, that's pretty much what I was afraid of no doc's on these car's. I met a guy at a Western National's show two years ago & he said that he thinks Canada had a promotional run of 20 car's with this Powder Blue color (most people that see it call it baby-blue) that's the only thing I've found. I guess Canada kept much better records of their 1st gens.

Any clue on the Copo part...or is that a bit of a stretch!!??

Have old pics when it ran, just a project sitting out back right now. Can't download pics, always tries to load whole file. Mine is a ssrs 396 with auto, came with pw,ps,pb,air, tilt wheel, remote dr mirror, dlx houndstooth int, fold down back seat, vigi lights, dlx chrome, center console with out gauges, dlx int lights, rear wing, the big ugly bumper guards,ss hood with chrome injector looking pieces. Ive'd owned it since 78, need to get it running again

Your 68 is loaded to the gills. That's unusual...most big blocks are plain. The 69 was ordered for a girl, hence the powder blue paint, horse-shoe shift & no center gauges.
You have a pretty rare car...congrats.

No, the special order does not qualify your car as a COPO car. COPO cars were a specific number of cars all built to the same Central Office Production Order, not just one car ordered a certain way. If a dealer or maybe a state agency, taxi cab co., etc. ordered 50, 100, or some other number of cars all built the same way, then those would all be COPO cars.
Police cars and taxi cabs were all COPO cars. and of course the famous COPO big block Camaros!

Where did you get that info? Most big blocks were SS396 Camaros, and definitely not plain cars. They had a fair number of options. The only "plain" big block Camaros were the ZL 427 COPO cars.

Thanks 3rd Gear Member, your definition of a COPO makes the most sense to date. Any idea where I can find that on-line?
