Default So I was driving down the road....

And Bam! My hood flies up! I get pulled into the median and bam! It slams down. When the hood flew up it broke the hinges and let the hood slam down too far forward on the nose and too far right on the passenger quarter panel. It'll be headed to the body shop this week to get the dents and paint fixed and.....hood pins! I'll make sure that doesn't happen again.

Had that happen on my old 68 GTO except I didn't have hinges. Somehow or another the hinges just walked away when I had the car tore apart.

Anyway, the hood went straight over the roof and did a dive bomb into the asphalt about 15-20 feet behind me. Glad it was early morning with no traffic!

Scary feeling huh?

Luckily there wasn't much traffic and only one truck behind me that pulled in behind to make sure I was ok. Yeah, it was a bit suprising when it flung up. Needless to say I was more pissed than anything. Oh well, it'll be fixed good as new in no time. Called Grundy this morning and they are sending an adjuster out for me.

I had that happen to me many years ago with a different 69. I had a glass hood, hung on hinges with springs, but held down in front with hood pins. After working under the hood....oops forgot to pin the hood. I was going about 20-25 when the wind caught it. Luckily nothing got hurt, except my pride!

Wow I can actually say I've had that happen to me before but it was in a little blue honda I had. Some guy had hit me in the left front fender and I was driving home on the expressway and bam up goes the hood. Freaked me right out.

Thanks! I'll take some pics of the damage before it goes to the body shop. It's not real extensive damage and should be relatively easy for them to fix. I hope they don't have any problems matching the paint. The hood latch came down on the racing stripe and put a nice knuckle sized dent and then on top of the passenger quarter it left two nice dents and a few paint scratches all the way down to the metal. Because it caused my hinges to break they scratched the wheel wells that are painted the same color of the car also. Hinges will also have to be replaced that are painted to match the car. Also, the vents that are a part of the windshield wiper valance panel were bent a little which will cause them to need to be painted.
