Self threading nuts on badge

Self threading nuts on badge
Hello all. New to the Camaro world. Good bit of experience in late model Corvettes, and looking for some advice. Picked up a 69 in really good shape, previously restored. Badge on top of front hood cowl was very loose. Removed the one flat clip holding it in and removed the badge. Bought some self threading nuts, but can’t get them to thread completely in to lock the badge in place. Have I mucked this up completely? Is there a better tool than just a small 5/16 wrench? How easy to get better access without major surgery? Thanks! Bill

Should very very easy and the small wrench should do the trick. Not sure if that is an aftermarket badge, but some time the threads on the badges don't go down far enough to make a snug fit. Make sure the nut threads on properly, so you should be able to thread the nut on by hand and make sure its the correct size. The after market nut may also a troublesome. May want to put a washer or two on the badge to give you more the threads to get a snug fit so it's not loose.
That's all I got without doing it myself and physically installing. Hope this helps
