I have a 1967 camaro. I bought a new rear 10 bolt 8.5" axle(complete and correct) and need to install it. Does anyone know how to line up the rear housing spring mounts to the car to make the dimensions correct? I have a build manual but the information is vague. Thanks.

 

Does the axle have spring perches installed or do you have to put in your own?

When you say new, is it made for the year car you have? If so, it should just bolt right up. The driveshaft angle should be fine ... unless you changed something else in the driveline.

 

total bolt in, no lining up should, or even could be, necessary

 

depends on what the 8.5" came out of.
the 8.5" didnt come in the Camaro until 71 or 72 and were not the same width
if it came from a Nova 72-75 then it will bolt right in

 

There is also a difference between mono leaf and multi leaf spring perches. The later Camaro rear ends are wider axle to axle too.

 

I was assuming his reareand came out of a similar car. also the Nova thing works from 68 to 74

 

68-75 Nova fit, I just listed 72-75 as thats the years for the 8.5"
