Default Questions about possible purchase

Hello, I am looking at a 67 that I found for sale. Body is ok, needs some work, floorboards, trunk floor and some of the frame is rusted BAD. Lots of parts missing (fiddly bits) Probably need to replace rear frame. Pictured is the trim plate. From what I can tell from the plate, originally was a RS, but was a 6 cyl with a 4 speed? Does not have original motor or trans now. He is asking $8500, just looking for advice. I owned my last Camaro back in the 90's, it was a 67 as well.

I am by no means an expert, but I think you're confusing the cowl tag style numbers with the VIN tag. The cowl tag designation "6" stands for a deluxe interior and a "4" in the VIN would stand for a V8 engine. A '3" instead of a "4" the VIN would be a six cylinder. Others more knowledgeable can correct me if I'm wrong. You are correct that the cowl tag shows the car having a four speed trans and the "RS" package.

Any pictures of the outside of the car, and the frame rails? Are you able to do resto work (welding, etc.) yourself? Otherwise you could bury yourself financially paying to get it done, especially if there's the typical hidden can of worms to be found once the body gets stripped. Also, the RS package was available with any engine or performance package.

I only have a couple of pics. None of the frame rails. The rear rails need to be replaced. Unfortunately I am not very experienced at metal work and do not have welding equipment. As you can see from the pics, if this is a RS as the plate indicates, it does not have correct tail lights.
