Cool Question about '68 Super Sport Grills

Did all 1968 Super Sports come with the blacked out grill or could you order the silver, stock grill with the SS badging like this one?

i believe that 68 ss cars had the black grill (non RS car) and std and Z28 cars had the silver grill. im probably wrong and 69 will correct me (cuz hes super smart ) but thats for originalality. the grilles are the same so the badges are all the same. same thing goes with rs grilles 68s had the heat stamp chrome on the horizontal bars but it wore off quickly so its the same as a 67 car.

I'm going to assume that, much like the hood louvers/vents, that in 1968 the SS grills came in both (not either) silver and black. The silver were used in earlier production 1968 models and black in later 1968.

Thanks. So any '68 SS with the silver grill is either a badged clone or the grill has been replaced?

Also, it's been well documented that the '68 SS used surplus '67 SS hood louvers early in production until inventory ran out. Then switched to the four ported hood vents.

well yes and no. ive heard on one of the other resto camaro forums thats some 67 big blocks had the stacks in the 67 production year but ive seen no proof. plus only the leftovers were used on small block ss cars. the 68 big blocks got the stacks never the fins
