Default power top switch is very hot

The power top switch on my 67 conv gets really hot when in use. Is this a sign of the motor dragging ? The power feed comes from horn relay to circuit breaker to switch to motor. Shouldn't there be a relay in there somewhere? The pistons and tubing are new. Motor is original . Thanks ****

Yeah, you should have a power top relay. Apparently someone bypassed it and powered the top right through the switch. Too much amperage for the rating of the switch, which is why it's getting hot.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I new that a relay was what I needed. I looked for unused wiring and an extra relay but found none. Can you tell me were the power top relay should be located on my 67. Inner fender, cowl panel or under dash. Thanks again
