You should find the box & pitman arm first which may be a chore in and of itself.
We did it on the Challenger when the motor was out & it was medium difficulty.
If it were my Camaro, I wouldn't do it.

Ricks First Generation has "Camaro Power Steering Gearbox, Variable Ratio, 3 To 3-1/2 Turns, 1967-1969" (part number Item# P-18501) for $249.99. They also have the pitman arm, hoses, brackets needed to complete this project.

I believe the benefit greatly outweighs the work involved. Removing the front finder may give you the access required to complete this difficult project easily.

Good Luck!

very simple and worthwhile upgrade.

the hardest part is separating the old steering parts from the box (and that's not all that hard).

depending on if you have headers, and what kind you have, you might have to dimple your third tube. I have big tubes so I just went with solid engine mounts and dimple

as it turns out,the last thing i need to worry about is power steering(too many other issues with the car)...the manual steering box is shot....so the question is,do i replace it with a 4,5,or 6 turn box?....im kindof a big boy,so i dont think i'll have a problem with the 4...but i dont know...i will be putting power steering on the car at some point....but that may be far off in the future

thanks,

bohuntr

When I read your statement, "I'm kind of a big boy"... my thoughts are that you should consider doing the power stearing now. This would allow you to also go with a smaller steering wheel to help you get in and out.

I know I need all the help I can get as well! =)

the are a few factors and one is the front tire size. the wider the tire, the harder to turn. it's all up to you.
