What are you trying to do to it? Stock, custom? I like that style gearshifter. I dont like the seats, just me though.

Very nice 68'. Interior is nice also. Looks like a great pro-touring 68' Camaro to me. Is that what your plans are?

i bought the car like it sits,
i will have it painted jet black with bergundy stripe from fender to fender
across front, like rs style.
then make it an ss replica

personally dont care for the seats but the car was restored a while ago
and i bought it for 16,000, runs and drives great now that i put new coil springs, upper control arm bushings, front shocks, and a new driveshaft.

well for the price i guess its not 2 bad considering the car is clean from top to bottom with very minimal rust.

It looks awesome. 16k is a big chunk, BUT, like I said, it looks awesome. And awesomeness comes at a price, and awesomeness is what you got.

My only criticism is, though, why pay a hefty price like that upfront for a car that already looks good, and THEN spend another big chunk to get something (that already looks good) repainted? I don't have much experience, but I think that getting that car professionly repainted, with the front burgundy stripe, with desirable results, it's gonna cost $10k plus. Am I wrong?

Seems that if you had your heart set on black, you should have found a baby-poop brown camaro with dents for $8k, and then pay 10 grand to have it painted black. But I know that the pickin's are slim for 1st gens.

My opinion - I love the color it already is. I wonder how expensive it'd be to get a black stripe put on the front (fender to fender). That might look just as cool.

EDIT:
I just checked on some first gen prices. On second thought, go ahead and do what you want

well 4500.00 guaranteed show car cond cause no hard body work required,
jams and all.
i have looked at a lot of camaros over the years at car shows, and street cars
and this car underneath is as solid as most.
the front sub frame is clean and has been repainted when the car was restored,
the floors are solid
the trunk has 2 small rust holes by the right shock tower,
the rear speaker deck and under the back window needs nothing.
i took this car to a place called metal works in mt juliet tn.
they are the best when it comes to metal repair and paint work
the guy looked at the 68 camaro under the hood,in the trunk,at the whole car as best he could
and told me 7500.00 to 10,000.00 to strip the car and start over, and i had 1 question for him
and i asked what do you think of the car? his reply was car is in excellent shape.
well i cant see that kind of money for a car that is in great shape so i shopped around and found it for 4500.00 the guy said he would need the car for 3 months to paint it.
i could paint the car myself if i had a place to do it. here is a picture of a mustang that i painted for my wife when we lived in somerset ky. it took me 13 hours to do it all. downdraft booth at cumberland classic, collision center 85allen way somerset ky.
ppg base coat red pearl, ppg nissan black met, concept 2021 showcar clear. no bull either
my paint gun is a satta jet 2000 nr it cost 500.00$
i own my own landscaping company in nashville and if i had to pay 10,000.00 to get it done
i would money is not an option when it comes to bieng done right.
i have painted several cars in the last 4 years and i like doing it, all you need is a place to do it and ambition. the problem with me is like i said no place to do it, paint the 68 black that is.
anyway the mustang was entered in the car show over the summer (sommernites criuse)
and everyone seemed to like it.
