Does anyone know anything about this product? Has anyone used it?

Yes, it is a great product. We've used it a lot on our Edsel restoration. Once the frame was cleaned and sandblasted we put POR-15 on as a base and then painted over tht with a gloss black. The inner fenders and underside of the body was also coated in POR-15 then painted over. This was months ago and I see no signs of peeling,cracking, or flaking from what we've done. Granted, the cars not on the road yet but if it wasn't going to stick and stay there would be signs of trouble already.

 

I'm not knocking POR-15 at all, but nothing should peel if the car is just sitting there. a 99 cent can of paint from a craft store would work if the car was just sitting there. the true testament to POR-15 is it's durability in real world conditions.

No, nothing should peel off. But I've seen it happen with other products. Even when prepped properly I've seen other brands peel from "just sitting". Whether it's because they where mixed wrong or put with another product that didn't agree with it.

With the POR we've used a few different brands of paint in different areas and they all applied and went on with no adverse reactions. Different primers on top of it attached also with no reaction. One of my worst days was on another car where the paint and the primer didn't agree with what was already on the part. All hell breaks loose and **** start peeling and flaking immediately. Haven't had that with POR

The idea behind POR is that you can stop rust. Those little areas you can't seem to get just perfectly cleaned off unless you wanted to have the car dipped. Or areas that have had rust attack them and are pitted. The POR reacts(how I don't know) to stop the rust from continuing.

 

Used POR 15 on a Jeep frame and it is a totally amazing product.
After the finish coat had dried for a week we tested the toughness of the coating by striking it with a violent hammer blow - No cracks, chips or flakes...

Closes thing to powder coat I've ever seen.

 

Used Por 15 in a C3 engine compartment, and the inside ofthe fiberglass hood. Really good paint. Just dont get it on your skin or pavement. Currently there is a big black stain on the driveway due to a spill.
