original options list

Default original options list

I just bought a 68 ss 396. seller claims this to be an original bib block car. can anyone tell me how to get a list of the factory options that came with this car? help!

u can't unless that original owner has build sheet i do know of a web site that will check a vin for free to se if title was transfered only goes back so far tho
nothing else but the basics on cowl

If you want something to answer all you 'option' questions I would suggest the white book. Otherwise is there a specific question you had, there are many folks here who are able to answer your questions. Welcome to the forums by the way. the 68 SS could be ordered with a 396 the cars that had 396 from the factory had a special hood with 2 sets of simulated louvers. Each louver had 4 fake intakes. the louvers were all cosmetic and non functional. the 350 hood had 2 sets of louver which had fins, like the chevelle.

What does the cowl tag say? The SS might have something on the cowl tag known as an RPO code, sometimes not. Anyways if there is something there it might help. Also the throtle linkages, heater core and a few other things will indicate if it was a BB or SB. With out the build sheet it might be impossible to tell.
