Newbie with question on 67 back up lights
Newbie regular on Corvette forum, looking for 67 convertible. One I'm looking at has a lot of RS trim including tail lights, but no backup lights in the rear valance panel. Were they an option in 67? They were standard on vettes starting in 66 so the betting is no. Don't care if the car is a clone, but don't want to pay for a real one when it isn't.
The RS trim package puts the BU lights in the lower valance under bumper. Either the owner had that panel and BU lights removed or it is a non RS he just did the front hidden headlight thing to and pulled the non RS tail/BU lights out and put in the RS tail lights which don't have BU lights
As said, part of RS option. Look at Trim Tag next to brake master cylinder and read a '3L' as it is the RS option.
If 3L is there, then tail panel changed later in life.
If not present, then headlights added.
Look also for lower chrome on bodyline and blacked out lower panel painting for part of 3L option.

Great info. Thanks. Ya hate to pay for something when it isn't. Just curious if these cars have a production run sticker on top of the gas tank that can verify everything the car was built with. C2s started that in the 67 model year.
When the Camaro got to the end of the assembly line, sometimes the build sheet was attached to the top of the gas tank, sometimes it was stuffed behind/under the back seat, sometimes it was just thrown out. There was no set rule as what was to be done with the build sheet.
