Hey all, I just brought home a 1968 Camaro yesterday! I'm sure I'll be posting questions about how to fix little things here and there, but I'll be sure to use the search features first haha. I grew up working on MOPARs with my Dad. My first car was a 1969 Dodge Dart. This is my second muscle car, mainly because I'm sick of dealing with California SMOG rules.
It's supposedly got a 350 from another vehicle in it. The casting number on the block reads 3970010. It's an original V8 car, but I don't know which engine. It's got a TH350 trans and a 10 bolt rear end.
It was repainted some time in 2016. They didn't do a concours job or anything, but I bought this thing to be a driver. I don't know what the color is yet, which sucks because I need to get a little touch up paint haha.
I live about 30 minutes East of Sacramento if anyone has Vendor or Shop recommendations for things. I'm fairly new to the area, and I don't know many people here yet. Same with any clubs or other cool stuff I probably don't know about.
Welcome to C.F., nice car! Your car's original color was island teal. Good body shops have a spectrophotometer, which scans the car color, and gives them a formula to match your car as close as possible.

I think it says MF19800. I was told on a Facebook group that those numbers don't mean anything. The block casting number in the original post was what they wanted, but it's a pretty generic code?

There's certainly some nice drives in the mountains close by you .
Lake Tahoe only a couple hours,Yosemite not much further.
If you get on the East side highway 395 is nice driving,I've done the whole highway from up here in WA at it's Northernmost point all the way to it's Southern end in CA.
You're also close enough to spend a weekend in the Redwoods say up around Garberville and hit the coast too.
Hwy 1 North of Ft. Bragg is suprisingly uncrowded.
Where are you from? I tour a lot on my Harley so I've been about everywhere in the Western half of the USA at one time or another.

I'm in Rocklin now. I lived in the Bay Area the last 15 years.
I'm super happy being able to get a car like her in my price range. Very minimal surface rust if any at all. Under the car looks really great. When they did the repaint, they didn't seam seal the drip rails. Now there's a little bubbling in there.

The MF stamping on the pad is a 67 327 Camaro engine from another car. A 68 Camaro 327 2brl is ME. Do you know what the "R377" means on the cowl tag?
