I think mainly so folks can surf the site and find info,some threads go pretty long and have solutions to problems.

They are good reference information. This site gets a lot of traffic from goggle searches. Most people don't even make logins. As a car model ages you get less and less posts for that car. At some point most of the design defects or quarks have been discussed. No need to rehash that stuff unless a new solution comes up. In the case of old cars the info may be known but it just has not gotten to a good searchable site. Also with the 1st and 2nd gens new parts are coming out all the time.
