my dad and i are wiring up his 69 camaro after taking a long break...and never really took any notes or details of what he did or what because at that time i was working...lol
so...i got some pics...im hoping they help..thing is...
theres 3 wires...2 yellow...and one blue...coming from a bundle coming from the dash...and the blue wire has this rubber boot/plug thing on it...
as far as where were at on the wiring...we have an orange wire thats from the ignition box but the wiring diagram doesnt say anything about an orange wire so i dunno what to do about that...
got some starter wires left but thats no biggy...the main thing is these in the pictures...and the wiring diagram says all other wires originally connected to the + coil....and those coming from the dash are the only wires left...

Pretty sure that plug goes to the factory oil sending unit that was on the rear of the block behind the intake manifold. My car is a tad different from stock now, so I'm going off memory (what's left of it). I have a chassis manual if you need to know for certain.
Also, are you running with an electronic ignition? I noticed the ballast resistor on the firewall.

were using a mallory rev limiter msd coil and mallory unilite distributor...thats all.
we finally got the thing running having to return the distributor back to jegs because the module was bad. since we've had it running i noticed that the resistance wire gets hot, as well as the battery cables both negative and positive...any reason why? thanks for your help!

That's why I asked about the resistor. What did you use as a power source for the ignition? From the factory, the wire that was powering the coil is a resistance wire, so that there is only about 10 volts going into the coil. Otherwise the points would fry. Electronic ignition systems want to have a clean 12 volts going to it, unless your Mallory distributor instructions told you otherwise. Did it say how many volts to feed it? And, how many volts do you have coming out of the ballast resistor? If you're running too much resistance, which it sounds like you might be, that would explain the hot wire.
Also, you may already know, but with an electronic ignition, you want to change your plug gap from .030 to .045 to give yourself a bigger spark.
I just looked at the product description and it says "ballast resistor required". But, you don't want to use a resistor if you are already hooking it up to the factory resistance wire.
