Default Need advice

I have a 69 Camaro SS that I'm bringing back to a semi-original state.

I currently have 15X6 Corvette Ralley wheels on it which look great. Problem is the tires I chose are too tall and rub the inner fenderwell on full lock turns.

Anyone know (FOR SURE) the best circumfrence tire to use with this setup?

Corvette ralley wheels are 15x8. On a 6 inch rim a 215/60/15 will be about as wide as you can go and not bulge out on the sides and shouldnt rub.

Nope, not so cut & dried. Starting in 1969, the Vette rally wheels were 15x8. 1968 were 15x7, and prior to that they were 15x6.
Tire options for the 69 Camaro were E78x14, or F70x14.
Current tires go by metric dimensions and don't measure exactly the same as the E or F sizes.
The closest to the E78 is between a 195-205 75R14.
Closest to the F70 is between a 205-215 70R14.
Look those sizes up on tirerack.com to get the diameter specs.

Thanks for the info. Yes these are indeed '67 Corvette Rally wheels and are truly 15X6. I bought them for another project but they looked great on the Camaro... so that's where they are.

Ye, but instead of 14 inch tires you may want to try 15 inch.

I gave him that info not for the wheel diameter, but so he could know what the original stock tire size was, then cross-reference that 14" tire height to a 15" size tire.

Very good, none of that matters because he does not have original Camaro 14x7 wheels. He has 15x6 CORVETTE wheels now. He cannot put as wide a tire on 6 inch rims.

I can see you're not getting what I'm saying. His question was only about tire height, not width. And yes he can put tires that are suggested to be put on 7" wheels on 6" wheels. Is it the optimum setup, maybe not. Will it hurt the tires, no. And to add mud to the water (before that gets brought up next), the 69 Z/28 came with E70x15 tires. The 14" wheels came 6" and 7" wide, to fit the respective E78/F70 tires.
Classic Industries doesn't seem to have a problem with putting F70 comparable tires (215/70) on 6" wide wheels either:

Actually, the infor Camaro 69 posted is just what I was looking for. Using a tire size calculator, I found that a 215/70/14 has a 81.21" circumference.

Using the same calculator, I found that a 215/65/15 has an 81.68" circumference. The calculator also shows that this 215/65/15 is suitable for a 6" wide rim.

If you ever need a conversion, here is a great place to start.

Thanks again to everyone who responded!

I know what he was trying to say. So the calculator gave you a tire size that is almost exact to my first reply. You will have a hard time finding a 65 tire size as 60 and 70 are a standard size. But wait, Im sure captain correcto will respond to that also.
I am fully aware about all the different rims that came on camaros.
