I first fell in love with 1st gen camaros when I watched Better Off Dead around 1993. I soon after bought a 68 camaro. I loved it. My mother hated the car and told me I would recieve help going to college if I sold the car. I've been regretting it ever since. I have since been married, had child, bought a house etc.. Life is stable and I'm ready to replace the piece missing from my dreams, a 1st gen camaro.
I'm not a numbers matching kind of guy. I want the car to reflect who I am, and not reflect who it was.
I'm looking to buy a rolling shell and build from there. My biggest question is, where to buy one? Is there any respectable outlet that locates, de-rusts the shell, and ships it out rolling to your door? If so, where? If not, where to look?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm sure you have seen this site Better Off Dead Camaro
I too had a old camaro ('72) when I was in high school and sold it when I went to college. Regretted it ever since.
Now stable, kids, house, etc and made the plunge last year into a '69 Z28. Maybe because I turned 40 as well.
I found it on ebay but it was local so I was able to see it before purchasing. I had been looking for about 2 years, watching the prices, etc. The auctions (like Mecum) seem to have good deals but I have never been to one. In the end, I paid what I thought was a fair price for a good condition weekend driver. Not concourse quality but I didn't have that kind of money available.
Good luck on your search.

Thank you for the link to betteroffdeadcamaro.com I spent some time reading the site. What an inspiration. The car I had was a 68 SS 350. I really want a 67 (partially to get out of the smog requirement if that hasn't changed) and because I want it to look very similar to the better off dead camaro. I think I'll head over and read over that site again!
