Default Looking at a 68 and i've been away for a while

Hello all,

Long story short. Sold my 68 Rally Sport w/ DZ 302 back when i was younger a dumber. I've been looking for a little toy for me and my 14 year old son to play with.
I ran across a 68 near here and I've been away from Gen 1's for 25 years and wanted to run it by you guys and see what you thought. I went and looked at it and drove it after work today. It was originally a 4 speed car. Still has clutch pedal but now has a pretty peppy 350 and 350 turbo trans. The trunk had virtually no rust. the floor pans were intact except the very bottom had been coated with a thin layer of epoxy or something similar. The fender have a little plastic in them but the car looked pretty good underneath. The rear fenders has rust around the wheel well edges but nothing terrible. No rust around the back window inside trunk roof that i could tell. The guy is asking $4k. What do you guys think?

It needs a lot of work but I think it would be a decent foundation.

Thanks,

I have two things to say. That car is stupid cheap, and where did you say it was located again?

Good project for starters.
If rear fender edge needs work, look/feel outer wheel house lip as they may need changing also. The two join together at the lip and good place for water to collect.

Move the MSD box from being above the header, electronics and heat don't go together. Needs a fan shroud.

Dirt cheap. Good luck. Make a logbook of the car as you build it.
The logbook will become invaluable later in life.

Thanks for the input guys. I know these cars nearly always look better in pictures than in person but it sounds like it's well worth the asking price.

Thanks,
