Default A little lost

Hey guys I'm kind of new to this whole forum thing as well as the Camaro thing. I bought a 1967 Camaro a couple months ago and am trying to get it going again. I think my next step is to put in a new rear end, as the previous owner put in another rear that is way to big for the space. But I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on the gear ratios, size (10 or 12 bolt), new or used, brand, and any information that would help me. I have a 350 and a 4 speed transmission now. I was told a good ratio would probably be 3.73 but am very open to suggestions. Thanks very much and I hope I did this right.

I would put a rockwell under the rear and jack it up about 18 inches for clearance over the rocks...

The first thing to do is decide where you want this project to go. Are you looking for something to drive all the time, only one weekends and such, show quality, weekend racing etc... Also figgure out what else is wrong with it IE: rust damage, headliner etc... And decide from there what direction to go. Does it even run?
Welcome to the forums by the way and post up some pics of that 1st gen when you get a chance.

I would like to drive the car in the better weather months. So reliability is a bigger factor than being perfect, but I want it to look nice. There is minimal rust on the car and it was in a local mechanic's shop for a little while. So it runs pretty good. When it was there he made sure everything was running well and put in power disks. He was going to put in a rear end but suggested that i wait to find one at a swap meet. This sounded like a good idea but i am having second thoughts about it because i want it to be reliable.I dont really plan on racing at the track, maybe do a pass just for fun but nothing crazy. About what I have left is the new rear then some new wheels and tires which im open to suggestions to also, then maybe some RS headlights (Has anyone done this, if so whats involved?), new paint and some interior stuff. Ill try and post some pics when I can.

The RS kits can be bought and come with instructions. Your looking at about 1k for the things. www.rickscamaro.com
Is there something you dont like about the rear you have now? If its in good working order then you might be better off just keeping it.

From my understanding the problem with the rear is that the dimensions of it are so big that it sits cocked in the back, and to keep it from hitting the muffler the guy before me tightened the suspension so it wouldnt move. So i guess it works, but there is no rear suspension. The RS kit looks sweet
