I would say its worth it. You can make alot more hp with a ls based engine for fewer dollars. How radical would a 1st gen sb be at say 550-600hp? And the money it would take?

i dont think the money is factor of the swap its if you want to mess with alot of body modifications and wiring and just making it fit for an ls1 or buying a few motor parts like a cam headers intake and putting them on. also its up to you if want the ls1 of the old small block.

Umm yes, money would be a factor, Depends on your skill level also if you can do the work yourself or not. I guess thats going to be Game Overs decision if he wishes to go that route lol.

ok the biggest thing on the ls1 is where you get it from. if you can find one in a wrecked car where you can get everything then thats a good way to go because you wont have to spend alot of money in a machine shop cleaning a block up like an old small block. but if you have to buy everything new then the costs might tip in favor of a small block but like you said its up to game overs on what he wants to do.

Not yet, but I really want to. I'm going to try and put it on the dyno when the weather starts to warm up.

i like oldschool just easier to work on and less wiring issues and getting around 425-450 hp for bout 4000 bucks or so. more than enough hp for a street car.

Default My Toys

A few of my toys:

2007 Z06 with Guldstrand targa conversion & my 69 396 SS.

The Camaro is a non numbers matching but period correct car with a Turbo 400 transmission. Not the fastest thing on the block, but the Z06 is!
