I am new here, do not get mad I have a 1969 Firebird. Pretty close to you chevy guys. I need help I purchased a leaf spring rebuild kit with heavy clamps (not the band style) with silencers and rivets. The problem is my springs originally had the band style and no rivets. What is the correct way to rebuild these springs? I was thinking I could drill holes for the rivets, But are you supposed to install clamp silde in rivet, heat and beat down the rivet over the leaf? If so the rivets are too short to go through both the clamp and leaf! Any help would be great or am I looking at this totally wrong?
