Looks good so far. What are you going back with. Are you going to clean and refurbish the stock stuff you took off or go with something else?

The red stuff is just cut up shop towel to keep the junk out while I was cleaning it up. The 2 bbl isnt so cute on the inside. One of the adjustment screws is turned in so far that the insde has cracks, but it still ran okay.

The new stuff is a 600 CFM 4 bbl kit from Summit. Came with the carb, intake, and air cleaner for about $400. Pretty good deal to me, I have been waiting a couple years to get it and I think it was finally time.

I am just nervous about getting the distributor back in, I marked it pretty good. But most of the stuff I have done doesnt require any precision.

I'll make sure and get a layout pic of the new stuff before putting it in. I usally forget to take the pics as I am doing the uninstalls, so I tried a little harder this time.

did you pull the dist. cap off and mark where the rotor was pointing on the edge of the dist.or firewall etc.??
uncoil that massive roll of oil pressure line hanging next to the brake booster and cut it down so there is some light slack in it and hook it back up!!
looks like your headed in the right direction!!

When I pulled the distributor I marked where it was in ref to the housing and then marked the housing in ref to where the oil pressure line goes in.

The line is an illusion, the coiled up mess is the temp sensor slack. It just lined up with the oil line in the pic.

I'll be putting the new intake on tomorrow, just need to pick up some spray adheasive first.

I was going to use the rubber ones, but put a little sealant on both sides. It looks like there are grooves for the sealant on the ones I have.

I'd also agree that you toss those end gaskets, no matter what they are! Rubber squeezes out, and cork fails. I use black RTV gasket maker on the ends about 3/16" thick, then just set the intake on carefully and snug it down. The next day I come back and torque it, then use a razor blade to cut the excess off the front edge if it looks like it's oozed out too much. This last step is just for looks.
Did my Camaro this way 12 yrs. ago and still not a sign of leakage.
