I really need some help.
Soon I am getting a 67' Camaro. The guy im getting it from said that the engine in it is about 10,000$. Im 17 years old and i want to use the car as a daily driver. I wanna know what the price you think it is just to be sure that he is honest.
350 Engine - bored 030 over, steel crankshaft, stage II connecting rods, balanced and dynoed. 11:2:1 forged pistons (TRW).
Lunati solid camshaft (307 duration/519 lift. 1.6. roller rockers. 64cc heads polished and ported)
1:60 & 2:08 stainless steel valves
Hardened pushrods
Victor Jr intake manifold
980 Da Vinci carb
Pro billit distributor with 6AL ignition box
Headers with flowmaster exhaust
New rad, brakes and hardware, wheel cylinders and drums, master cylinder.
New interior, grill and window cranks.
350 Trans/shift kit and 3500 7" converter.
I would like to sell the engine for the price he said and get a 502 but again im not sure. Please i need help.

for a daily driver i would stay far away from big blocks. also the motor in the car seems well built and the tranny is built for the strip. a good daily driver motor is either a 327 or 350 small block with factory heads and aluminum intake and a 500 to 650 cfm carb and for a cam that still sounds good i would go with a 350hp L79 spec cam. also for daily use dump the 3500 stall in the tranny. thats way to high for street use. in the 55 chevy we have it has a 2700 stall and i dont like it for street driving. as for what the motor is worth. just cause he said hes in it 10 grand doesnt mean that what it can sell for. How many miles are on the motor? has it been down the strip? the motor to me could be worth $5000 to $6500 if its still relatively fresh.

a big block is nice for the once in a while drive a close to stock motor is better for everyday use and reliabilty. when you put a hopped up motor into something that will be driven alot you will be working on it alot. i have a 327 in my 68 and its a great running motor that has a little work done to it but im not afraid to go anywhere in it. plus a lower compression motor is what you need to the low level pump gas without needing an octane booster

a big block is nice for the once in a while drive a close to stock motor is better for everyday use and reliabilty. when you put a hopped up motor into something that will be driven alot you will be working on it alot. i have a 327 in my 68 and its a great running motor that has a little work done to it but im not afraid to go anywhere in it. plus a lower compression motor is what you need to the low level pump gas without needing an octane booster

well the camaros are mine and then my grandparents have a collection of 5 other old cars. but im very lucky that i get access to these cool cars and to get to spend quality time with my grandparents and other family

I've driven the heck out of my '71 Camaro with a BBC 427 for 38 years. A BBC can easily be a daily driver if you choose one that's not built too far, but even a built SBC will give you poor results as a daily driver if pushed too far. If the SBC in the Camaro is really built, it wont make a good daily driver either.
$10,000 into a build can be done, but I'd be shocked if he had half that into the engine from the things you've listed. Even if he bought a good running 350 first, and then did that it wont cost $10k.
And as for selling a used engine; well if there aren't receipts for all the work that are very recent, and have the block numbers on them, then it's a pig in a poke. No way to substantiate that build or the price, so it wont sell for more than a couple thousand dollars used, and that would be pushing it.
I bought a 327 from a '68 Chevelle SS that was supposed to have over $3600 in the build, and be "550 HP". I knew the seller was exaggerating the HP, but I also saw receipts for the build, so I believed the rest. Paid him $1200 cash and he was happy to get it because he'd had it for 18 months trying to get $1600.
People take a huge loss on used engines most the time, as it's just not worth what they put into them to the next guy.

Just two notes to add, A stock big block is a 250K motor. They are fine for daily drivers as long as you dont screw them up with the wrong mods. Second, a used $10,000 performance motor is worth about 3K (at the high end 2K for a fast sell) Unless it is coming with a remainder of some warranty no one will give you near the 10K for it. Even is everything was still in the machine shop bags ready to assemble its at best a 5K motor.

I had a shop build me a 500hp sb in 1994 for 4000 i drive the hell out of it every yr (not a daily driver) and it runs as good as the day i got it!! for 10grand that motor better be putting out over 1000 hp.
