Default How good is POR 15?

Can this product be applied to minor surface rust direct and stop it from continuing?

I have a car with a lot of minor surface rust on the interior of the quarters and roof. I want to deal with it in a way that is not to time consuming. Is this stuff good enough to put directly on to this type of rust?

Yes it will work on minor rust. It does so by sealing out oxygen. You have to be sure the rust is dry. Any water and the oxygen in the water will allow rust to continue for awhile. If you want to be 100% sure it will not continue you want to convert the rust to a black oxide then seal it. Por15 is a great product and it will seal and add strength to weakened metal but its a real pain to apply. I like Eastwoods encapsulator. It is a little thinner then the Por's which means it sprays on a lot easier. I like it for doors and hard to reach areas.

Converter (manufacture really does not matter all the converters work the same, even Walmart carries one)

Encapsulator (spray or by quart or Gallon)

I'll vouch for that, it's tuff stuff. I once brushed it on a frame while the car was on a lift. I didn't realize just how much was dripping on me. Let's just say I spent a good three hours soaking in the tub and scraping my skin raw, and it still didn't all come off. Helpful hint: if under the car, wear a hat, a long sleeve shirt, gloves, and goggles.
As far as applying it to what you really want to (the frame), getting the metal as clean as possible is best. If you paint over flaky rust, it will just come off as the rust chunks do.
