How to get more power??
I now know what i have under my hood. But i want to know what more i can do with it. I am looking to get more power from my 327 with stock heads. It does have a 4bbl and hooker headers. I know that i want to keep the original motor, so no dropping a 572 in it. But what do you think would be the best bang for the buck? New heads? Thanks!!!
Running now:
Matching number 327
Holly 4bbl Carb
Hooker Headers

What's your budget? You could build it to 1960's Corvette 327/350hp specs (350hp @ 5800 rpm and 360 ft lbs torque @ 3600 rpm). 11:1 compression ratio, better heads, and a hydraulic cam (GM #3863151) had 221/221 duration @.050, .447/.447 lift. Although that cam isn't a wild beast by some standards, it did give the 327 a good h.p./torque power band while keeping the car very streetable. Give yours a cam upgrade, but with that you need some better breathing 2.02 heads. Don't go as high with the c.r., 10.5:1 and you'll just be able to still use premium pump gas, or you may want to keep it at 10:1 so you can run mid-grade gas. Keep in mind that a lower c.r. will also lower your output numbers.
i can vouch for 69. i have a stock spec 350 327 in my 68 and it is pretty peppy. they sound good and rev hard. if you can/want to go with solid lifters to the same motor and youll have the 365 hp 327 vette motor. that was the only difference between the 2
