hot rod woodshop's 68 RS build
I have neither coolant, fuel or electricity yet. when I build a car I like to have the gauges operate when I start the engine.and I never get in a hurry about any thing. I know it is hard to wait sometimes to start an engine.but it will happen soon.
Assuming you have a newly rebuilt engine, the only way to properly break it in (set the rings to the cylinder walls) is while it's under a load by driving the car, not by running the engine in the garage. You're smart to resist the temptation.
before I do the front sheet metal I will start the engine , break in the cam , set the timing and check for leaks. then I'll let it cool make any adjusments ,start it again bring it up to operating temp and check every thing out. then it should be ready to drive.
I have this red wire that I originaly thought was for the heater blower motor ,but the wires for that are in the A/C harness.what the hell is it.after I get power I will check to see if and when it gets power.
got the dash finished except for the glove box door.and leaving the box loose ,I may replace the grab handle if I can find one. ready for the steering column, need to do some work on it . I recently bought a power brake bleader .used it on this project for the first time .it was awsome makes brake bleading a piece of cake.
here is an update . got the engine started, installed a Crane cams electronic ignition, now it starts and idles a lot better. now I am ready to drive this car over to the body shop to get the rest of the sheet metal hung. then it will be off to the upholstry shop for the headliner and vinyl top. my glass guy is coming by today to do windshield and back glass.still trying to track down some correct parts for the doors.cant find opening rods for deluxe int. may end up just fabricating some.
I figured out what this wire is .it is the underhood light.
