Default Hood Insulation

Thinking about removing the insulation on the underside of my hood as some of the plastic clips have broken . My car is far from original so that does not worry me. Most car's i have seen just paint the underside of the hood. For or against, watcha think ?

That sound unanimous, but are there any benefits to keeping it?

what I was told by the dealer mechanic a long time ago was
The main purpose of the hood insulator is to keep engine heat off the hood that is painted. Paint doesn't like high heat very much and it will age faster
but I don't know about all that, I have had em and have taken em off both. clips are only a few bucks at rickscamaros.com tho

Haven't had that stuff for years, and never noticed any paint issues on my paint. Prior to repainting my old paint was nearly 30 yrs. without insulation and no ill effect.

I would ditch it, what look you prefer. The only cars I am aware of is 70's vettes with big blocks that have a problem with engine heat on the hood. decisions/decisions
