Im doing a project (high school) on muscle cars. The only thing is i dont know why muscle cars became about in America. Im not saying to write out my paper for me but can u give me web links that tell me why muscle cars started in America.

At that time the only affordable cars that came with big V8 engines weremade in America.

I think you are going to find many different answers to that. I would say that testosterone had alot to do with it. Historicaly the moonshiners would 'soup' up thier cars to out run the police, this is before the advent of the radio or air support. Anyways, they would make thier cars faster, soon companies made parts for the average joe to do the same thing. Detriot found out about it and made production cars that people could buy that were faster than the average grocery getter. Thats about it in a nutshell.

it was the beginning of getting cars to move fast so it just lead to wanting faster then it got to looking good when the camaro came out

If there are Cracker Barrel restaurants in your area they carry or used to carry books about old cars. I personally have two of them. One is titled "Cars of the Fabulous Fifties" and the other is titled "Cars of the Sizzling Sixties".

They are both excellent books with lots of trivia and great photos of all kinds of cars from those eras.
