hello everyone,

Im thinking of doing a "almost" 100 point restoration on a 69 camaro, ( which i dont have yet ) I know exactley what i want to do just havent found the correct car to start my project with most of them are rusted out where i live. so its a online hunt and can take for ever! lol..

I guess before i get everyones attention of thinking i have found some one off barn find, i should say that im NOT looking to do a numbers matching 100 point car that i cant enjoy.

My plans are a copo clone minus the drive train. Bigger is better I want the interior, engine bay, and exterior to be as close to perfect as can be, but im planning on running a lot larger big block ( dressed as close as i can to a 427) then probably a 6 speed trans.

I know there are people that will disagree with what i want to do but i have ownd correct restored numbers matching cars and while its a grate honor and pride to own them to me they just are not as fun. Im sure if i had a few million stashed away it would be different story That led to fixing up my 67 corvette which is "correct" but shows its age in the body. It has the usual stress cracks and rock chips. I guess the best way to describe it would be it could pass as a driven "survivor"

What im wondering is this. On the corvettes, there are books to do the restoration. Some books are a lot better than others and even have the correct paint codes for the exact part. where as some books just say the engine bay was black.. I know that these are avaliable as well for the camaro but what im wondering is if one is better than the other. I dont have any real plans to have the car judged or go on any shows so it doesnt have to be 100 % exact. However at the same time i dont want to open my hood and stuff be the wrong color, or wrong stickers etc... You get the idea..

Any suggestions or ideas you all might have id love to read them..

You might want to look into the Fisher Body manual.

And for what it's worth, I have no problems with how you
want to build YOUR car. A 555 with a 6 speed would be a lot of fun!
