hard start question
I have a 67 with a new 350. Starts up no problem when cold but after it is warmed up it barely cranks. My thinking is that the timing is advanced too far. The battery and starter are both new and all cables are good. Anyone else have any ideas?

It's likely a "heat soak" issue, where the solenoid is getting too hot. If your heat shield is missing or if you have headers, heat could be the cause, which isn't an uncommon thing. You can test to see if it's your timing by popping off the coil wire so the cylinders can't fire. If the starter still acts the same, it isn't a timing issue, and you can pretty much figure it's an overheated starter. If your shield is missing, you can install a replacement one, or get a starter heat insulator wrap.
