Your probably right. I went with a 3.31 originally to be more friendly on the road but Ive only put 700 miles on it since I got it done in May. I figured a 3.55 would give me a little more on the low end. I did toss around the idea of a 3.73 but decided against it. I may get bored next winter and decide to change it again.

You will feel plenty more low end grunt with your current gear change. You will go from a lazy cruiser, to something that actually feels like it has some decent pull.
If you like to do any long range cruising 3:73s are definitely not the way to go.

Are you swapping the entire rears or just the gears? Man that seem like a lot of work either way.

You r right gorn. Went for a test ride Monday not a big difference. Changed the gear only, came across one sitting around and I get fidgety when I dont have a project. The hardest thing was removing the rubber bushings from the rear frame rail and installing the poly ones for the Hotchkis kit with the gas tank installed. Made up some new words.

I'm talking about stuff like I do. I've done some 3 day, 1000+ mile cruises behind the wheel of my big-block '69. You add a 3:73's to that equation with a pretty crazy exhaust and 26" tires and you're talking about listening to 3,000+ RPM just to try to stay up with traffic in the middle lane of the highway. Radio and/or conversation is useless. Don't even want to start talking about the gas mileage.
