Default Front spoiler question

I was told that the front spoiler was actually functional and helped direct air up to the radiator at highway speed. My 67 RS did not have one when I bought it and I'm not sure if it's supposed to have one or not. Can someone school me on these? Thanks.

GM developed the spoilers for track racing to give front and rear body down force to improve high speed handling. Added air flow in front might be a secondary by-product.
Spoiler's weren't part of the RS package, and were never standard with any option packages, except for the later production 1969 Z/28 models. The "auxiliary panel and valence (front spoiler)" RPO D80, was available as an option for the 1968-69 model years, none for 1967.
So to answer your question, no your car isn't "supposed to" have one. But that doesn't stop you from adding it if you want.
