Default Front Disc Brake Conversion with 14" Wheels

I recently purchased a 1968 with 14" wheels and manual drum brakes. I want to convert to front disc but have been told I need at least 15" wheels. Does anyone know of a way to convert without changing the wheels?

Default RE: Front Disc Brake Conversion with 14" Wheels

We installed Stainless Steel Brake Corporation(SSBC) disc brake conversion on the front and rear of our 1968. During the body work we ran some old 14" wheels with the SSBC's brakes installed. One of the rear rims did not have proper clearance and we had to grind the rim to add clearance. The front rims worked without issue - I'm sure the clearancewas much too close everyday operation. So, I suppose it depends on the style 14" rim you choose and what the inside diameter measures.
