I want to install weld in frame connectors on my '69. I want ones that will tuck up as high as possible and i do not want to cut my floor at all. Can someone recommend good connectors for me?

We used 'Detroit Speed' sub-frame connectors on my '68, but cut the floor pan and counted that as a plus, as the connectors not only weld to the rear sub-frame at the spring perches, and at the front sub-frame via fish-plate welds once it rejoins the body, but also is seam-welded for a long strip on each side of the floor pan, both top and bottom, further ensuring that the right side of the body doesn't want to move forward at a different rate than the left side. The only minus I could see to this installation was an uneven floor for rear seat passengers. In the five or six years I actively drove this car on a daily basis, I never once had a rear-seat passenger, and probably won't moving forward.

Since you're willing to weld to both sub-frames, it seems probable that you have no attachment to retaining a pristine dealer-showroom Camaro, so I'm curious to know why you don't want to cut the floor pan. Concern about transmitting frame vibration to the body?

The geometry of a strong connector seems to dictate a need to cut the floor, to maintain a straight line between rear spring perch and front sub-frame end. However, Detroit Speed's connector is the only weld-on unit I'm familiar with. By the way, you can view the install on my diary in the 1st Gen Projects forum, titled "Ricky Camaro Rebirth", at entry 25, dated 11-22-2021. There are pictures there of the install before any coatings were applied. with views both in and under the shell.

 

Have you given a thought to buying bolt in and welding those in?

The ones by BMR are interesting, and Global makes some nice ones.
I used S&W Racecars frame connectors on my car, but for something like what you want, a bolt in may be better and then just weld it in place.

 

Summit brand bolt in's then just weld them. $120 IIRC
