What was the purpose and meaning of the markings on the firewall?
I am cleaning up the firewall by blasting and noticed some hidden markings that we finally made out on the firewall.

 

It depends on what the markings are. Some chalk marks were in reference to a job number to identify a car on the assembly line. Other marks were usually abbreviations that related to what options would get installed on the car.
