Unhappy finally...i guess

well i finally took delivery of my 68 rs/ss yesterday(traded my 2005 corvette c6 convertible for it)....gorn was right about trading for a car sight unseen...anyway....the body/paint is real nice...so is the engine/tranny....thats where the good stuff ends..

a list of crap that is wrong with the car:

the (manual)steering box is shot(a third turn of play)

the "rs"hideaway lights have no opening/closing system installed..just rs front grill assembly

parking lights dont work(blows fuses)

front tires rub bad when turning

sits higher in the front end than the rear(coupla inches)

heater fan dosent work

drivers side windows(main window and quarter window)wont roll up without having to push up with hand (prolly the regulator/guide rollers)

the clutch shudders and shakes(while having to clutch the hell outa the car to even get going)...im assuming 3.42 gears...and maybe clutch is bad

speedometer is 20 mph off(slow)

wont downshift into 2nd very easily(maybe just linkage)

headers hitting motor mounts when reving motor

no parking brake cable..only pedal(awesome on a manual trans car)

fuel gauge isnt reading correctly

anyway...im sure there's gonna be more..thats "all" i've found so far...

was really excited about the car....but its gonna turn into a money pit
i got screwed pretty bad...oh well...the interior light works!!(for now)

completely bummed out about the car....buts its my stupidity buying anything sight unseen...."here's my sign"

gonna need serious help getting this car the way i want it

sorry to hear you got ripped off man, but, at some point you didn't see it before titles changed hands ? Good luck on your efforts of making it the way you want it..

Other than that....how do you like the car?
Sounds like you're gonna have a busy weekend.
From the looks of it, it's a combination time/money pit! Oh well, it'll truly be "yours" once you're done tinkering with it.
And I'm sure Gorn isn't going to come in here and suggest any kind of "I told you so".....yeah right!

My fuel gauge was off too, I just cleaned up the ground wire point and it was good again. Then it went out again and I think it is the other end now, but just a quick fix for you (maybe).

thats rough work ahead of you there. and i bet your vett was in good shape. but would you rather have a car that you look at all winter or one you can/ have to wrench on all winter?

i do like the car...it is very sharp to look at and listen to....but i have an 82 jeep cj7 rockcrawler with 37"s that drives better..anyway,i did run a magnet around the body...and there seems to be no bondo issues...maybe i've found all of the faults with it....we'll see
