Just weld the cover to the head and be done with it.

Put on some good aluminum valve covers (if you don't have), they don't tweak like the cheap stamped steel ones do. If you have chromed steel valve covers, then I understand your leaking problem.
By the way, "blow-by" reefers to cylinder compression leaking past worn piston rings and pressurizing the crankcase. I was wondering how your leaky valve covers may have caused that!
Make sure your valve cover vents are venting too. PCV valve on one valve cover, and a breather on the other cover.

yea, I took the cheap stamped steel chrome plated ones off the day we fired the engine because the rocker arms were hitting them. Ive had a $100 pair of ribbed aluminum covers on it since day one. new PCV and breather on the other one.

Ooh nice....the ribbed kind!!
Ahem. Make sure your PVC valve isn't faulty, or clogged.
Give it the shake and blow test.....still talking about the PCV valve btw!!

Sheesh, if your air cleaner stud was any longer, you'd have to hang clearance lights on it! lol
