Default Finally found the right one.. Suspension Recomendations

Hey guys,

Been looking for the right '68 for about a year. This one landed in my lap. First order of business is suspension, brakes and steering.

I'm getting bogged down researching the suspension kits. They range from $1,000 to $6,000 or more. Won't be drag racing, just cruising, getting on it every now and then. Has anyone done a coil overs on all 4 corners plus all the other goodies? I have no problem spending the money if there is a payoff, but obviously don't want to buy what I don't need. What will make the biggest difference in drivability? Also, solutions for tightening up the steering?

Here are some pics of the new ride. Thanks...

My $.02 for a cruiser, fun to drive car is replace A arm bushings, tie rods, center link and ball joints if these parts are worn. Moog or Proforged. I stay with rubber vs poly stuff as the later will make the car a little stiff but that is a + if Auto X driving is intended.

A 1 1/8" sway bar and sub-frame connectors will help. Several brands to chose from. I just got Summit brand.

If you want to lower the car I would, and did, the RideTech lowering progressive springs (1 5/8" drop) and lowering blocks (1 1/2"-2") in the rear. Speedway and most part suppliers have them

There are better steering boxes. One from a Jeep, not sure of what years. It will require different hose fittings and a rag joint but otherwise a bolt in. LEE makes a very nice tighter ratio unit but it is around $680 IIRC

Google David Pozzi if you want a more aggressive system as he is very knowledgeable on the 1st gens suspension upgrades
